Gig delivery platforms pay couriers less than minimum wage after expenses.

Amazon Flex, gig courier apps, and last-mile delivery platforms set rates that barely cover fuel costs. They control your routes, own your customer relationships, and push all vehicle expenses onto you.

  • Per-package rates that do not account for gas, tolls, or vehicle wear
  • Algorithmically assigned routes optimized for the platform, not your earnings
  • All vehicle costs, maintenance, insurance, and depreciation come from your pocket
  • No benefits, no job security, and deactivation for any reason at any time
  • Zero voice in rate changes, route assignments, or platform policies

Voices from the road

I drove for Amazon Flex for two years and watched my net pay drop every quarter. With Cursor, I helped set the per-package rates myself. I keep 88 cents on the dollar now, and my route actually makes geographic sense. The difference in my monthly take-home is over $800.

The best part is not even the money, though that matters. It is knowing that when we vote on policies, we are making decisions as owners. Last month we voted to add a fuel surcharge when gas spiked. On Amazon Flex, they would have just kept our rates the same.

Bike courier, cooperative board member

I used to dread the algorithm assigning me routes across three zip codes with 50 stops. Now I deliver in two neighborhoods I know by heart. My delivery times are faster, customers know me by name, and I am not burning through tires every three months.

Cursor is a courier-owned package delivery cooperative. Instead of a corporation extracting 30% of every delivery fee, the couriers who do the work own the platform together. We keep 88% of delivery fees, vote on policies, and share in any profits.

Amazon Flex and similar platforms take 30% or more of every delivery, assign routes by algorithm, and treat couriers as disposable contractors. Cursor is owned by the couriers. We set our own rates, have input on routes, and make decisions democratically. Every courier is an equal owner.

We welcome bike couriers, car couriers, and van couriers. Vehicle requirements vary by market and package type. During signup, you will tell us about your vehicle and we will match you with appropriate delivery opportunities in your area.

Earnings depend on your market, vehicle type, and hours. Because Cursor only takes 12% instead of 30%, couriers typically earn 18-25% more per delivery than on gig platforms. Use our calculator above to estimate your earnings based on your delivery volume.

Every courier-owner gets one vote. We elect a board of fellow couriers who oversee operations. Major decisions like rate changes, new market launches, and policy updates are voted on by all members. Monthly town halls keep everyone informed and involved.

Cursor negotiates group rates on fuel, maintenance, insurance, and supplies. Our collective bargaining power gets you better deals than you could get alone. Many couriers save $100-200 per month on vehicle costs through our partnerships.

We are currently active in select cities and expanding monthly. Sign up with your email and we will notify you as soon as Cursor launches in your area. If you want to help organize a cooperative in your city, let us know.
